1 - Marcel Duchamp Prize

The jury convened on Monday 17 October 2022 to choose the winner of the Prix Marcel Duchamp from among the four artists nominated for this edition: Giulia Andreani, Iván Argote, Philippe Decrauzat and Mimosa Echard.
These deliberations followed a presentation of the artists by their reporters, respectively: Nadia Yala Kisukidi, Kathryn Weir, Julien Fronsacq, and Jill Gasparina.
The jury, consisting of seven personalities – Xavier Rey, Claude Bonnin, Pedro Barbosa, Cécile Debray, Elsy Lahner, Nathalie Mamane-Cohen, and Akemi Shiraha – awarded the Prix Marcel Duchamp 2022 to Mimosa Echard.

Born in Alès in 1986, Mimosa Echard lives and works in Paris. She is represented by the Chantal Crousel gallery in Paris and the Martina Simeti gallery in Milan, Italy. “Of the four excellent finalists representing the creative variety of the French scene, this year’s Prix Marcel Duchamp is awarded to Mimosa Echard for an uncompromising work which, by assembling organic and non-organic, natural and artificial, and often antagonistic materials,
achieves a formally assured and protean result. In tune with the challenges of our time,
and without Manichaeism, she pushes back the expressive limits of the different mediums in order to present a powerful aesthetic experience that integrates many public preoccupations, such as the power of images, the visible and the hidden, control of the body, equality, and relations between space and society.” Xavier Rey, Director of the Musée National d’art moderne, President of the jury

The Jury for the Prix Marcel Duchamp 2021 convened on Monday, the 18th of October 2021, to choose the laureate of the Prix Marcel Duchamp 2021 from among the four artists nominated for this edition: Julian Charrière, Isabelle Cornaro, Julien Creuzet, Lili Reynaud Dewar. The Jury made its deliberations followed by a presentation of the artists by their reporters respectively: Martin Guinard-Terrin, Clément Dirié, Maboula Soumahoro and Manuel Segade. The jury composed of seven personalities – Xavier Rey, Claude Bonnin, Leon Amitai, Shalva Breus, Emma Lavigne, Akemi Shiraha, Annabelle Ténèze – awarded the Prix Marcel Duchamp 2021 to Lili Reynaud Dewar. Born in 1975, lives and works in Grenoble. She is represented by the Galleries Clearing, Brussels & New-York ; Emmanuel Layr, Vienna & Rome.

Discover the virtual visit of the 2020 Marcel Duchamp Prize Exhibition!

Claude Bonnin, President of ADIAF, explains the prize and its stakes for the French scene. The visit by Sophie Duplaix, Chief Curator of Contemporary Collections, Musée national d’art moderne, Centre Pompidou and Curator of the exhibition Marcel Duchamp Prize 2020 presents the works of the four nominated artists: Alice Anderson, Hicham Berrada, Kapwani Kiwanga (Laureate) and Enrique Ramirez.
