Tiphaine Calmettes

Tiphaine Calmettes explores attempts at communication between human beings and their environmen, or beyond, through everyday objects. Through sculpture and installation, she seeks to set both forms and her lines of inquiry into motion. At times approaching design, her objects question the animation of artifacts, both in their relationship to use and through the materials that compose them. By collaborating with researchers and craftspeople, she examines how our ways of being in the world can be rethought by reviving forgotten practices and forms of knowledge. She aims to embody narratives through collective experiences. Her work has been shown in numerous institutions, notably at Bétonsalon Paris (FR) in 2022, the Centre d’art de Neuchâtel (CH), and the Fondazione Merz (IT) in 2024. She is the recipient of the Aware Prize 2020 and the Art Eco-Design Prize 2025.
