“Rayane Mcirdi’s films are based on stories, memories and anecdotes collected from people close to him. Borrowing some of the ethnographer’s gestures, he collects intimate words (always set in Asnières-sur-Seine and Gennevilliers, the terrain he has chosen for himself), before translating them into video. Without ever disguising them, he then stages them, choosing their cinematographic setting, to sketch out the contours of a vast human mosaic that he proposes to discover in fragments.” Horya Makhlouf
